First of all thanks for the interest in MahinaCharters.com. My name is Eleandro, 35, born and raised in the central Mediterranean Island of Malta.
In April 2005 I made a big step in life / dream and bought my own 37ft (11m) sailing yacht named Mahina from Antigua WI and since I have been refitting her and cruising whilst working on professional crewed yachts around the Caribbean, East coast of America and the Mediterranean.
My long waited dream and personal challenge of sailing single handed to Malta from the Caribbean has now been accomplished. Started from St. Martin on May 13th 2007, it took me 20 days to Horta, Azores, another 9 days to the west coast of Spain and 8 more to Malta, a total of 4800Nm.
"Tough and Trust" and "Proof of Life" says in one of my newsletters, but must admit that, especially those first 20 days, were the best days of my life, simply alone, feeling tiny and all that ocean to myself. After 3 years rebuilding the whole yacht, I am soon ready to embark for my next adventure. Will be sailing Mahina from Malta, where she presently lies, in October 2011, via straits of Gibraltar, Brazil (Amazon), Panama, South Pacific to Australia by November 2012.
